Lockers was taken over by Alfred until in 1939
he moved to a larger farm, Upper Borlum, Knockando, Moray. There is now practically no trace of
the house or steading of Lockers and the land has been merged with that of a neighbouring farm.
Alfred and Margaret retired from Upper Borlum in 1957 and moved to Portlethen, Kincardineshire, some eight miles South of Aberdeen. He went to live in Elgin in 1980 where he died suddenly on 24th April 1984 at the age of 85, having been fit and active until that time. He had related that he was the first child to be born at Lockers after the house was reroofed with slates to replace the sod roof built by his great-grandfather in 1844.
